In the summer of 2023, Shelby Helburn released his highly-anticipated debut album, Maybe Someday. This concept record was meant to be a highway companion for the listener, transporting them to the passenger seat of Helburn's world. With catchy singles like “Wild at Heart” and “Tug of War,” Helburn quickly became a favorite of both local radio stations and promoters. When asked about the immediate buzz surrounding the record, Helburn said, "These songs are a snapshot of a pivotal moment in my life, so it means a lot to me that people are connecting with them."
Now, as 2024 is wrapping up, Shelby Helburn is set to release his sophomore album, Roll Away. If Maybe Someday was a highway companion, Roll Away is a celebration at the end of the world. But instead of giving in to the gravitational pull of nostalgia, Roll Away focuses on rekindling hope in the face of uncertainty. With lyrically dynamic songs like “A Place The Belongs To The Wind” and epic ballads like “Still,” Helburn uses this album to redefine his vantage point. The vivid, wide-ranging, and immersive sounds of Roll Away will remind listeners of watching films in Cinemascope and once again, the listener will be ushered into a world entirely of Helburn's creation. And as the album closes with “Away”--likely to be Helburn's magnum opus--listeners will feel as if they're in the last car at the drive-in, watching the credits roll, and wondering where this music has been all their lives.
As if pulled from archives of the approaching past or distant future, Roll Away feels both familiar and incomparable. But if there's one thing you can say about Shelby Helburn, it's that if you think you've got him figured out, you don't.
Roll Away will be released on December 20th in partnership with Up The Creek Records and will be available on limited edition creamsicle vinyl and on all streaming platforms. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Ben Hirschfield at Nutone Studios and mastered by Dave Cooley at Elysian Masters. The vinyl records were manufactured in the USA by Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, Ohio.

Born on a horse farm, raised riding bareback spotted appaloosa ponies through the woods, Ruby has the spirit of a desperado cowgirl. Growing up, her mother, Gini Lee’s angelic voice always filled the house with music and Ruby would sneak every opportunity to strum her old Yamaha guitar. Gini Lee passed when Ruby was young but gifted Ruby her powerful voice (and the Yamaha).
To escape her hometown blues, Ruby bid farewell to the looming gray skies of Lake Ontario and headed south. She was instantly swept up in a whirlwind of Appalachian bluegrass, old time and classic country sounds that shaped her writing and style. From busking on the streets of Asheville to gracing the prestigious stages of the Grassroots Festival, North Carolina, Ruby has captivated crowds big and small with her magnetic performance. Spurred by the call for adventure, Ruby took to the road and eventually made her way to The Paris of the West where the great American highway hits the pacific.
Ruby recorded her debut EP "John Wayne" at Tiny Telephone Oakland. Driving, heartfelt, and honest, this timeless collection of songs is a tribute to the feminine experience. Ruby’s songs share rich, evocative stories of love and loss, interwoven with the classic honky tonk themes of infidelity, misogyny, and vulnerability.
She has joined forces with Winston Moody (electric guitar, banitar, lap steel), Andrew Griffin (percussion), who both worked on the album and Russell Kiel (upright bass) for soulful, rockin’ live shows.
