Shekere Rhythms

Join Ma’Ye, the Shekere Woman of Atlanta, for an energizing and soulful shekere experience!

This all-levels class blends breathwork, full-body warm-ups, and technique training to help you connect deeply with rhythm and movement.

You’ll learn the art of playing the shekere, its patterns, sounds, and spirit, while moving across the floor in joyful dance routines set to traditional and contemporary songs.

Part percussion, part dance, all heart: this class is a celebration of rhythm, healing, and community. Come ready to sweat, smile, and shake your shekere!

*This offering is part of Moving in the Spirit’s community class series. Each class is open to movers of all ages, from children to seniors, and families can take classes together.

Tuesdays from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM at Moving in the Spirit

March 3 - April 14, 2026 (no class 3/24)

Individual Class Rates:

• Adults (ages 18+): $20/class
• Children & Seniors: $15/class
• Moving in the Spirit students, families, & alumni: $15

Class Pass* (six classes per pass):

• General Public: $90 ($15 per class)
• Moving in the Spirit students, families, & alumni: $75 ($12.50 per class)

* Students who purchase a Class Pass will receive their pass when they arrive for their first class. Passes will be stamped each subsequent class upon arrival. Moving in the Spirit cannot refund unused classes.
