About this Event
Join SheJumps for a unique behind-the-scenes experience with Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol! You’ll join Crystal's female ski patrollers and experience the day-to-day of their jobs, from the first run to closing sweeps. Learn all about mountain safety, first aid, avalanche control, toboggans, and more – all while skiing with the rad female patrollers at one of Washington's most iconic ski resorts.
What is "Calling Women In"?
Calling Women In events are structured as a full day experience. You will get the “highlight reel” of what it is like to be a patroller at your favorite resort. Throughout the day, women are taught a range of outdoor skills that are utilized by ski patrollers to keep the mountain safe while also learning mountain orientation, patrol landmarks, and local patrollers’ favorite runs. You will work alongside female patrollers to learn more about the many facets of mountain safety and first aid. You will not be participating in actual calls on the mountain or rendering any aid of any sort while participating in this event.
We will provide personalized female mentorship engaging in the sharing of knowledge and understanding while connecting experience, energy, and love for our natural places and fostering women’s inclusion and our vital roles in ski patrolling.
Who can attend? We want to extend a warm welcome to all women and any nonbinary skiers/riders who center their education in women-focused spaces. This event is intended for intermediate to expert skiers & snowboarders. As part of the registration process, participants will be asked what skill level they identify with most to help us determine which team they are best suited for using the categories below. This event is 21+.
- Beginner/Intermediate: Is comfortable skiing on green and blue runs, may be dabbling with groomed black diamonds.
- Advanced: Is confident skiing all groomed run levels, comfortable and dabbling with most varied terrain and snow conditions.
- Expert: Is comfortable and confident in skiing all types of terrain and snow conditions.

The event registration opens at 7:30 am promptly and is located in the Crystal Mountain base area plaza. On the day of the event, you’ll check in at registration and meet up with your team for the day.
At 8 am patrollers will escort participants up the gondola for an 8:15 am Ski Patrol Morning Meeting. We start the day at Mountain Top, where the patrol meets daily, with a morning meeting covering ski patrol basics and our agenda for the day along with coffee and pastries.
From there teams will break out and proceed to various places throughout the mountain, skiing and cover topics including mountain safety, mountain orientation, radio protocols, gear caches, weather and avalanche basics & prevention along with other fun topics.
