In response to August's far right racist riots, Sheffield stands up with a community fundraiser and celebration of immigration to the United Kingdom at Sidney & Matilda on Friday 4th October where 100% profits go to charity. Six Sheffield promoters known for showcasing international sounds and organising multi-genre events, refugee fundraisers and community spaces come together to host 10 hours of live artists and DJs across 5 rooms to showcase some of Steel City’s finest talent born in UK and overseas.
2x Grammy-nominee Steve Edwards’ local band, Astrels, co-headlines the event alongside UK-hip hop’s rising star, Jayahadream, making the trip north to stand together with 24 Sheffield DJs playing everything from Afrocentric, Latin, and Middle Eastern grooves to disco, house, garage, grime and jungle.
