Sheffield Lift the Ban Fundraiser

We are hosting another fundraiser!! We are super excited to be going back to Arts in the Right Place with a fabulous lineup of DJs. It is going to be a wonderful community night, full of solidarity and joy. There will be live music, arts and crafts and delicious food to enjoy.

All the money raised will be going towards our campaign, which is fighting to lift the ban on the right to work for people seeking sanctuary. We can’t wait to see you all there!

Lift the Ban is a campaign challenging the ban on work for people seeking asylum. The Sheffield Lift the Ban Coalition is made up of various organisations, businesses, trade unions and faith groups who are calling on the UK government to give people seeking asylum the right to work, unconstrained by the Shortage Occupation List, after they have waited six months for a decision on their initial asylum claim or further submission.

We rely on donations to carry out our campaign work and to ensure the campaign remains inclusive of people with lived experience. For example, money raised by this event will support us to pay for travel and food expenses so that people seeking asylum can directly participate in our campaign.

Besides raising crucial money for the campaign, the event will also be a joy-filled evening filled with community spirit, unity and fun, which is an important act of resistance against the rising hatred of the far right!

We are excited for you to join us to fight the ban on work for people seeking asylum and celebrate the wonderful, diverse community we have in Sheffield :)
