This series is a year-long course beginning in 2025 that will be taking students through every step in processing Fiber to produce a Shawl starting with a Sheep. We will be coordinating with a local farm and this course's start date will based on their shearing date (usually April). The first class will be the date of the Shearing where students will participating in skirting and washing the fleece. Dates will be updated here as soon as we have them.

This course includes:
1 Wool Prep course - Spring 2025 - coordinated with local farmer for start date. This class includes a Shearing demonstration, with hands-on skirting and wash classes - students will leave with wool to spin/prep in the next class.
2 Wool Preparation - May - students learn the many options available to spinning yearn. This class will have tools on hand to card/comb/batt/fluff your wool to your desired prep statge.
3 Into Yarn - June - Students can drop spindle their wool into singles or learn how to spin it in one of these classes (Wheels are limited, but available) Drop Spindle;From Fluff to Stuff or At the Wheel
3.5 Into Yarn - July - You can drop spindle your wool into singles or learn how to spin it in one of these classes (Wheels are limited, but available) Drop Spindle: From Fluff to Stuff or At the Wheel
4 Dye Your Yarn - August - Learn how to hand dye your yarn through a variety of methods including natural and acid dyeing
5 Into Yarn 2 : Plying - Late August - Students will learn the basics of plying different yarn types and some tips and tricks for turning out a consistent yarn using a Drop Spindle or Wheel. Students must come with a least 2 fully loaded bobbins to practice playing.
6, 7 8, Start the Shawl (3 classes) - Students will start their project and must be familiar with basic crochet stitches (if not students will be able to take Crochet: Five Basic Stitches)
