Thinking about raising sheep or goats, or recently added them to your farm or homestead? Join UF/IFAS Extension for this hands-on workshop designed specifically for new sheep and goat owners. Learn the essential skills needed to keep your animals healthy, productive, and well-managed.

This workshop will cover the basics of small ruminant care, including nutrition, pasture management, fencing considerations, and routine management practices. Participants will also gain practical knowledge about one of the most common health challenges in sheep and goats: internal parasites.

Through live demonstrations, attendees will learn how to evaluate Body Condition Scores (BCS), recognize signs of parasite infestations, and properly use the FAMACHA® card system to help identify animals that may need treatment. Participants will leave with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed management decisions and build a strong foundation for successful sheep and goat ownership.
