Inspired by the female composers and improvisers of the Australian jazz scene, this project seeks to combine vocal jazz artistry and improvisation with original, Australian works from the past and present. With a line-up of some of Melbourne’s finest, young jazz musicians, led by Amelia Evans, She Said pays tribute to Australian women in jazz, featuring the music of Judy Bailey, Kristin Berardi and Sonja Horbelt to name a few. Joined by Russell Tay (piano), Blakely McLean Davies (double bass) and Alex Spicer (drums), this will be an dazzling event of artistry and creativity not to be missed.
Award-winning Australian vocalist, Amelia Evans retains a deep love for storytelling via improvisation. Recognised for her breathtaking vocal versatility and ability to capture an audience with her authenticity and honesty, she has appeared on stage with artists such as Terri-Lyne Carrington, James Morrison, Linda Oh, Ari Hoenig, Bob Sedergreen, Tim Ries and Joe Camilleri.
