At the end of the summit participants will be able to discuss the needs of marginal older adult populations and identify community resources
About this Event

The target audience is those that work with, support, provide care and serve as care partners for older adults as well as lay community members and older adults interested in the topics. Faculty presenters from the University of Nevada, Reno Extension are Annie Lindsay discussing gender responsiveness in older adult women in recovery and those reentering the community after incarceration and the Hope for Family Resilience Team presenting domestic/intimate/care partner violence in later life. At UNLV Samantha John to discuss disparities in Hispanic older adults, Jason Flatt to discuss caregiving and disparities in LGBTQIA+ populations, and as our keynote speaker, UNLV President Keith Whitfield to discuss disparities in African American older adults. Also, Justin Miller from Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to discuss health disparities in older adults living with dementia in rural areas. Continuing education units (CEUs) will be submitted to the Nevada State Board of Examiners for long-term care administrators, marriage and family therapists, nurses and social workers and to the credentialing body of certified health education specialists (CHES). Breakfast is sponsored by Cleveland Clinic and lunch provided by AARP Nevada.
