The purpose and mission of the Faculty Exhibition is to showcase and celebrate the state of the art artistic, design-centered, and written achievements of our faculty to the campus community and Detroit art and design community, as well as to model professional practice in the art, design, and liberal arts fields for students and to act as a point of inspiration for students in their own work.
The juror for the exhibition is jes allie, an independent curator and arts organizer based in Detroit. She is also Co-Director of BULK Space where she works locally and nationally to ensure marginalized creatives have access to viable resources and opportunities within the arts. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Curatorial Practice from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2024. With over ten years of experience in the art and culture, she has had the opportunity to work with a number of national and international arts organizations and institutions such as the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), Red Bull Arts, Contemporary&, Monument Lab, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), SPACES, Independent Curators International, Lincoln Center and ApexArt. Her main focus is exploring how the arts continue to act as a means of cultural preservation among change.
