Shankaraa Foundation established in 1998 by the renowned classical dancer choreographer and cultural ambassador Rashme Hegde is dedicated to promoting and preserving India's rich cultural heritage. Through an open-hearted approach we welcome artists and art lovers from all walks of life fostering a space for creative expression in visual arts performing arts and handicrafts.
This event is particularly special as it commemorates the successful cultural exchange between Rashme Hegde and the White Lotus group from Russia in 1990. This exchange saw ten talented young dancers travel to India to learn Indian classical dance and over the past 35 years these artists have immersed themselves in Indian music and dance forms. To honor this collaboration we will be showcasing performances by some of these talented artists as well as acclaimed Indian artists
during this auspicious Maha Shivaratri celebration.
The event will feature:
MALLARI 7.30 PM
A ritualistic dance invoking Lord Shiva performed by the students of Sai Arts International. Directed by Dr. Suparna Venkatesh.
DANCE OF THE ELEMENTS
A feature dance by Vidushi Rajashree Holla (Kuchipudi) Vidushi Sandhya Udupa (Bharatanatyam) Vidushi Tatiana Nazorova (Kathak) Dr Elina Komarova (Mohiniyattam) and Vidushi Kalpana Devaprasad (Mallakhamb). Directed by Smt Rashme Hegde.
RHYTHMS OF SHIVA
A performance by Russian kathakaars Vidushi Tatiana Nazorova and Vidushi Eleonora Petrova from the Kathak Kendra Delhi.
FREE SPIRIT 8.30 PM ONWARDS
A confluence of Russian and Indian classical music featuring maestros Dmitriy Rasul Kareyev Ekaterina Melnikova and Dr Svetlana Janardan along with Grammy Award winner B. S. Arun Kumar Vidwan Siddhartha Belmannu and Vidwan Shadaj Godkhindi.
