About Aquarium of the Bay
Aquarium of the Bay at PIER 39 is a not-for-profit public facility accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, with a mission to Explore, Engage and Experience conservation of San Francisco Bay and its watershed from the Sierra to the Sea TM through six institutions under bay.org.
After decades of serving millions of visitors, scientists and researchers affecting positive science-based environmental policies, bay.org is undergoing a major transformation into the BayEcotarium; a world-class immersive, sustainability-driven aquarium, research and climate leadership facility.
As an interim step we'll share our plans for designing an explicit Climate and Environmental Justice pop-up exhibit featuring content that prompts a visceral reaction. The proposed project seeks to drive awareness and inspire advocacy towards eliminating these injustices and pursues a different outcome for marginalized communities, especially within the Bay Area.
