An opportunity to discuss how we can better support individuals after they've been released from Pr*son.
About this Event

People with Pr*son experience are amongst those with the greatest number of support needs. As a result of stigma and shame these are often not met.

Needed services can include housing, metal health, material aid, transport, AOD, disability, family violence and family/ friend/ child relationships. Without effective supports, 50% return to Pr*son within two years.

How can you help?
The experience of Pr*son and its aftermath are traumas that need to inform our work.

Family and Community services can play a key role in providing support and hope, as people struggle to build their new life post Pr*son

There are many barriers these clients face in accessing services- practical and psychological barriers. Shame and discrimination are right up there.

How workers respond has a huge impact on people’s ability to engage with service providers.

Please join us for a viewing of ‘Shame & Discrimination’, an extension of the successful workshops held across 2023.

A Q&A with our subject matter experts will follow the screening. You will hear the stories of lived experience and be involved in conversation.

This is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the issues faced by people with lived Pr*son experience and will enhance your capability to support them to achieve positive life outcomes.
