Yes folks, Boozy Bard is at it again, this time taking on Shakespeare's most politically-minded piece with Shakespeare Raw.
How does it work? I'm glad you asked.
A group of actors arrive the day of the show having read (I sincerely hope) the script so they are at least passingly familiar with the text. Then, they pull a character name from a bucket to learn who they will be playing that night. They then have approximately 5 minutes to get into character (read: grab a drink) and get ready for their first scene. And the next one. And the one after that. You get the idea.
"But I'm not familiar with the play" you say, well, here's the gist:
Rome is in a mutinous mood. The citizens are protesting about their rulers’ incompetence and the shortage of food. A popular senator, Menenius Agrippa, has just managed to calm them when the arrogant and fiery young general, Caius Martius, arouses their emotions again by confronting them. He tells them that tribunes, including Sicinius Velutus and Junius Brutus, have been appointed to speak on their behalf. Martius leads the Roman army against the Volscian forces, led by Tullus Aufidius, which are threatening Rome. Martius defeats the Volscians in their own city, Corioli, with great personal valour, and is given the title of ‘Coriolanus’. When he returns to Rome the senate elect him to succeed Cominius as Consul. He accepts the honour but refuses to subject himself to the endorsement of the common people in the marketplace. He finally very reluctantly agrees to it but although he achieves the people’s approval, it is not a ringing endorsement. Urged on by the tribunes, Sicinius and Brutus, they reverse their endorsement. Coriolanus shows his contempt for them by-

You'll have three opportunities to catch this spectacle, May 13th, 14th. and 15th - doors at 7pm, show at 7:30pm. Or whenever the line at the bar dies down.
The location? Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. Yeah, the one that looks like a castle. We're doing Shakespeare in a CASTLE!!! A castle with plenty of on-street parking. If the Bucks aren't playing anyway.
Cost is $10 at the door or $5 with a ‘medal’. In our case ‘medal’ is up for a bit of interpretation so we can see your creativity. A Sheriff’s badge from a Halloween costume? Sure. Number One Dad/Mom/Grandparent/etc? Sure. Pin from a previous Shakespeare RAW show to prove you survived that show? Sure! Tell us a good story and make it work.
