There are only 35 spots left for the intensive - we want to keep it smallish so that we can create a wonderful & warm presence for everyone very much like what we did in 2022.

Spots will be offered on a first-come basis- I unfortunately cannot hold a spot for you without registering.

THURSDAY OPEN CLASS: SHAHRZAD SIGNATURE TABLA SOLO *SEPARATE CLASS FROM INTENSIVE
630-9pm (2.5 hours)
Learn Shahrzad’s unique tabla solo technique in a series of technique breakdowns and drills and then add it all together into a short challenging tabla solo choreography which can be used to practice or performance.

SEPTEMBER 20 – 22 (16.65 HOURS)
EGYPTIAN TECHNIQUE INTENSIVE
In this intensive Shahrzad will share her personal approach for developing strong dance technique. Each day will feature conditioning, technique breakdowns, drilling, and combinations. Over the course of the weekend all of the technique and combinations will be combined to form an exciting and challenging Mejance choreography. Along with movement training Shahrzad will also be using lecture and Q&A to delve deeper into some of these subjects and give students the opportunity for direct feedback for personal development.
Friday:
Footwork and Turns: Learn to glide around the floor with grace and ease as we move from the fundamentals of strong footwork to advanced turn variations.
10:00-12:00 Technique and rhythm training through conditioning, drills, & combos

12:45-3:00 Training & choreography
Saturday:
Belly and Hips: Improve your accents and isolations with focused training on muscle control and coordination.
10:00-12:30 Technique, conditioning, drills, & combos for hips & belly
Break
1:15-3:45 Training & choreography
Sunday:
Arms and Finishing Touches: Take a deeper look at technique for arms, hands, hair, and upper body and how they can be used to add personality, meaning, and depth to your dance.
11:00-1:30 Technique, conditioning, drills, & combos for arms, hair, & flourishes
Break
2:15-4:30 Choreography section for ams, hair & flourishes, combo drilling
Thursday – Sunday workshop location: Bard on the Beach 162 West 1st Ave Vancouver, BC V5Y 0H6 *Studio room C

Payment plans are available which will break the payment into 2 should you want that option.

We will follow the same format as 2022 - an optional open level class on Thursday which will be a tabla solo focused class (Shahrzad is legendary for her tabla solo!) and the intensive will run Friday - Sunday with our gala show featuring Shahzrad, my student group the Layali Dancers & guest artists on the Friday and our night out hafla on the Saturday.

We will be in the same studio space as the previous intensive :)

There is also an option for booking privates with Shahrzad on the Wednesday September 18 & possibly on the 19th before the Open Level class so let me know if you are interested and we can go from there.
