XINEMA is pleased to present Shadow Puppetry, a community shadow puppet making workshop, hosted by Eric Leiser, taking place at XINEMA’s Fieldhouse on August 7, 2026, from 6-9pm.

In this workshop, participants will create handmade shadow puppets that explore organic forms, speculative creatures, and improvised image-making processes inspired by Leiser’s practice in holography, analogue cinema, sculpture, and performance. Puppets created during the workshop will become part of a collaborative expanded cinema performance presented outside XINEMA’s Fieldhouse on the opening night of , combining live shadow play, and analogue film projection.

No previous experience is required.

Workshop slots are $30 suggested donation, NOTAFLOF, (no one turned away for lack of funds). All workshop materials included!

Snacks will be provided. The workshop will be held outside. In the case of inclement weather, the workshop will be held inside XINEMA’s Fieldhouse.

Maximum workshop participants: 10

Minimum participant age: 10+ (unless accompanied by parent)

If held indoors, this workshop is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Accessible public bathrooms will be open throughout the workshop's duration; in addition, indoor bathrooms will be available via a short ramp and 29” doorways.
