Black History Month Decorating Series
Join us for a meaningful and creative 90-minute cookie decorating experience celebrating HBCU culture, education, and Black excellence through edible art.
This hands-on workshop invites guests to decorate melanin-inspired, HBCU-themed cookies using a rich, neutral color palette inspired by the many shades of melanin. Whether you’re an HBCU graduate, current student, supporter, or simply love the culture, this experience offers a beautiful way to show your HBCU spirit, rep your favorite HBCU, and celebrate creativity, connection, and Black History Month.
What’s Included
- A curated set of six (6) HBCU inspired cookies
- Royal icing in melanin-inspired tones
- All decorating tools and supplies
- Aprons to wear during workshop
- Step-by-step instruction from Chef Tai
- Individual take-home packaging for completed cookies
No prior cookie decorating experience is required.
Attendees are welcome to come dressed in their favorite HBCU attire!

Important Details:
- Ticket Price: Ticket price is per person.
- Early Bird Pricing: Take advantange of super early bird and early bird tiered pricing options. The earlier you book the more your save!
- Class Size: There is a 4 person minimum required to hold workshop. In the event of low turnout, a refund will be issued.
- Class time: This is a hands-on class. Depending on the flow of the class and the speed of the attendees the class could end a little early or run a little overtime.
- Cancellations: All cancellations must be made within 7 days of event. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable. If for some reason you need to cancel after the 7-day period, please reach out as a credit can be issued for a future class. Credits will not be issued for any cancellation requests made less than 72 hours before class date.
About Chef Tai...
· Co-owner, Pastry Chef, and Cake/Cookie Artist for 5-12 Dessert & the Baker’s Lab at 5-12 Dessert
· Bachelor degree in Baking & Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales University
· Master degree in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University
· Florence University of the Arts / Florence, Italy Study Abroad
· Former High School Baking & Pastry Arts Teacher
· Over 10 years as a business owner and over 15 years’ experience in the baking industry
