Presentation Title:
Holding Ourselves Gently: exploring professional grief in oncology nursing
Presented By:
Jeannie Zanetti, NP, ACHPN
UCSF Division of Palliative Medicine
Description:
Oncology nursing demands incredible emotional strength. While we are trained to provide compassionate care for our patients, the personal impact of cumulative loss often remains in the shadows. "Holding Ourselves Gently" provides a dedicated space to examine the weight of this work and move toward a more sustainable, supported professional life.
This presentation will explore the true scope and prevalence of professional grief. We will dive into the nuances of secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and moral distress, while also addressing how implicit bias can influence the support nurses receive. Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of these challenges and a toolkit of practices designed to mitigate the impact of grief and foster long-term resilience.
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 13612, for 1 contact hour.
