SEÑALES: Latino Neuroscience, Surgery, & Brainwave Mariachi Live

What makes us who we are? Sometimes the answers live just beneath the skin. SEÑALES invites you to explore the signals of life — the pulse of the heart, the sparks of the brain, and the healing power of music — in a first of it's kind Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the Alley Theatre.

This immersive program brings together medicine, neuroscience, and culture in a way you’ve never experienced before:

• Señales del Corazón – Dr. Carlos Encarnación (Cardiothoracic Surgeon) kicks off the evening with reflections on the heart as both an organ and a symbol, alongside a creative audience activity.
• Señales del Cerebro – Meet four PhD students from the University of Houston NeuroEngineering program as they share brief snapshots of their research, offering a rare glimpse into the cutting-edge work usually reserved for international conferences.
• Señales de la Cultura – Mariachi Sana Sana closes the night with a live performance that blends music, heritage, and healing. They'll remind us that culture itself is a signal of care passed down through generations.
