About this Event

After many requests, we're finally ready to do an Open Sew Series!

The studio is open for your imagination, and Kim is here to offer her expertise and space to guide you through an idea or a project. Because this class is open to everyone bringing an item of their choosing, there is no set structure to the open sew days.

In order to accommodate those who need help with larger lengths of fabric or laying out of patterns, these time slots will be open to only three people at a time. This ensures there is space for everyone's project, as well as enough time for Kim to spend with each person as needed.

This is an INTERMEDIATE event. Please be able to thread and use a sewing machine independently before signing up.

This open studio time is perfect for if you are:

  • stuck on a step, design, technique or process and need help
  • need help reading / understanding a pattern
  • would like guidance through an entire sewing project
  • just need my tools, table and space!
  • those wanting to sew with others in an inclusive, like minded environment
  • having trouble with your own sewing machine accomplishing your project

Please refrain from bringing any project taking up more space than a 6' table. If your project is larger than that, please contact Kim for a private lesson.

Please bring a notebook and pencil/pen, and all materials you need for your project.

ITEMS / TOOLS SUPPLIED:

Kim will provide all the usual supplies needed in a sewing studio. If you have a favorite pair of scissors, or pins, etc., of course feel free to bring any of your own supplies you like.

ROTARY CUTTERS: You are welcome to bring your own rotary cutter, IF you have experience using it. There is a large self healing mat in studio for use. There will not be rotary cutters supplied for use. If you would like to learn how to use one, you are welcome to bring one and Kim can instruct you one on one, or, you can also set up a private lesson and we can cover it there.

Kim has sewing machines here for those who wish to borrow one or don't have one.

There will also always be a large amount of scrap fabrics, trims, etc. that anyone is welcome to use and experiment with. There will always be a "fun" sewing machine set up for anyone to use to try new feet attachments, techniques or stitches.

**You are welcome and encouraged to bring and use your own sewing machine. However, please be SURE your machine is in working order before purchasing ticket.**

I agree to terms in waiver - By purchasing ticket, you are agreeing to terms in waiver. Please contact us if you would still like to sign up for this class, but have issue with any part of waiver.
