SewCultureAZ: Beginner Sewing Workshop

Everyone starts somewhere.

This beginner workshop is designed for people who have little or no sewing experience. Rather than rushing into a project, we focus on building the confidence and foundational skills that every sewist needs.

During class, you’ll learn how to:

🧵 Thread a sewing machine
🪡 Wind and install a bobbin
✂️ Sew straight seams and backstitch
📏 Practice on a variety of fabrics including denim, muslin and organza
⚙️ Gain experience using multiple sewing machine models

By the end of class, you’ll understand how a sewing machine works and feel confident enough to continue practicing on your own.

Future SewCulture workshops will build on these fundamentals with beginner-friendly sewing projects and new techniques.

Why don’t we make a project in this class?
Learning to control the machine is the foundation of every sewing project. We believe confidence comes first. Once you’ve built that foundation, future SewCulture workshops will introduce fun, beginner-friendly projects you can take home.
