Happy New Year!
Don't miss this wonderful evening with Michael Brothers and his Shorebirds of Florida -- Wings on the Wind presentation.
Florida is graced with an abundance of shorebirds! This diverse group of birds that includes sandpipers, plovers, oystercatchers, stilts and avocets. Denizens of not only our coastlines, but also rocky shores, grasslands and even the open ocean.
Worldwide there are about 217 species divided into 12 families, of which 4 families occur regularly in the United States. All four of those families occur in Florida with over 50 species recorded in the state.
This program will discuss the extraordinary life histories of these long-distance travelers and delve into how to identify these sometimes-confusing birds.
