Join us as we welcome the coming of spring with Setsubun (節分), a beloved Japanese tradition that marks the seasonal division and invites good fortune and new beginnings.
✨ What is Setsubun?
Setsubun is celebrated on the eve of spring (usually February 2, 3, or 4) to drive away evil spirits and welcome happiness for the new season.
🎉 Traditional activities include:
🫘 Mamemaki – throwing roasted soybeans while shouting
“Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!”
(Demons out! Fortune in!)
🍣 Eating Eho-maki (lucky sushi rolls) for health and prosperity
🫘 Eating soybeans equal to your age for purification and good luck
Let’s cleanse the past, celebrate Japanese culture, and start the season fresh together! 🌱
Perfect for families, friends, and anyone curious about Japanese traditions.
