The Golden Lion has cemented a reputation through its ability to attract the biggest artists & DJ’s to the best, intimate crowd in the North.
A DJ’s paradise & a venue where the likes of Dave Clarke, Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery & the great, late Andrew Weatherall frequently loved to play.
Since its inception back in 2016, Sessions has been at the forefront of underground electronic music in the north of England. Dark room fanatics, strobe light lovers, with a knack of bringing some of the scenes best talent to the grassroots venues of Lancashire. Previous guests include Terry Francis (Fabric), Krysko (WP) James Holroyd (Back to Basics), Moodymanc (20/20 Soundsystem) and End and Shamen legend Mr C to name but a few.
Sessions was born out of Darwen’s infamous Sunbird Records and founded by designer, musician, record label and venue owner Jonathan Lindley and original resident DJ, John Bennett. John now leads the charge with recent releases on Mr C’s label, Superfreq, showcasing Sessions ethos and dedication to the underground.
As Radio Slave, amongst other monikers, Matt Edwards has made some of the defining music of modern club culture. It's not only his production and DJ work that makes Edwards so revered though, his label REKIDS has been hugely prolific and respected since its inception in 2006.
Aside from his handful of appearances on leading imprints like Running Back and R&S, as well as some much-loved remixes, Edwards has concentrated the vast majority of his output to his own label. This approach has given him an instantly-recognisable and singular discography, a go-to artist for DJs across the house and techno worlds.
With REKIDS, he has been driving fresh talent to the forefront, including some of the industry's biggest names like Nina Kraviz. Diving into the back catalogue is like a house and techno encyclopedia: Robert Mike an Cuse us, Resistance) and many more have a release ings under he labakis
