Join us for SES Explorer Talk with Scott Pallett - Global and Critical Immunity Research...EVERYONE WELCOME!Scott Pallett is an expedition leader and an infectious diseases doctor who has spent the last few years delivering medicine to remote conflict areas. Having developed a focused interest in the clinical and socio-economic impact of neglected tropical diseases through an undergraduate degree at King’s College, he went on to acquire a medical degree from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He has gained unique experience in tropical and jungle medicine whilst leading small teams in South East Asia and throughout East Africa.
Scott was awarded our 2019 Gough Explorer Award for Medical Aid & Research for his Rangers First expedition that was aimed at improving the abilities of Park Rangers by helping them tackle trauma and local endemic disease.
COVID-19 has dominated much of Scott's research efforts over the last year. He has remained focused on better understanding the host immune response to both natural infection with SARS-CoV-2 as well as post-vaccination.
Scott will talk about his COVID-19 immunity research and his continuing work alongside research colleagues at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Imperial College London and St. George’s University of London where efforts have centred on understanding reinfection risk in the context of the emergent Delta variant and on furthering the understanding of infection dynamics in those with an impaired immune system.
