Serving Up Wisdom: Improv Comedy in the Afternoon

This program is recommended for individuals 55+; however, all are welcome.

Join us for Enoch Pratt Free Library’s FREE luncheon series, which offers patrons an afternoon of engaging conversations, performances, and activities. Pratt is excited to work in partnership with several community organizations to bring in a variety of dynamic presenters and performers, with rich academic and artistic backgrounds to lead these programs.

What’s on the menu:

At August’s luncheon, Pratt is hosting performers and instructors from , a Baltimore-based non-profit improv organization that produces shows, classes, and community development events. Highwire Improv will present an interactive performance demonstrating how improvisation can connect communities, promote communication and creativity, and bring laughter to our lives.

Improv is both a rich creative art form practiced globally, as well as a set of life skills that people engage in daily, including adaptability, creativity, communication, listening, and resilience. Through an interactive performance, Highwire Improv will present some of the history of improv, demonstrate improv games (like those seen on programs like ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’), discuss how improv can enrich our lives across home, work, and play, and lead the group in the co-creation of some improvised art! Participants are encouraged to be involved to the degree they find most comfortable - from observing and laughing along to joining Highwire’s facilitators on stage for interactive engagement!
