Service Academy and ROTC Scholarship Meet Up: Los Angeles
About this Event
Most families find out how service academy and ROTC scholarship decisions are made after the application is already in. This evening is for parents and students who want to know before that.
LTC Robert Kirkland is a West Point graduate who led the Army ROTC programs at Claremont McKenna College and USC and was named Army ROTC Instructor of the Year. He will give two short talks, one on a selected Service Academy topic and the other on an ROTC scholarship topic, each followed by open questions. There is time before and after to talk with him directly.
Who this is for: parents and students in 9th, 10th and 11th grade who are considering West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy or the Merchant Marine Academy, or an Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Air Force ROTC scholarship. Parents of seniors are welcome too, and the Q&A will cover where the process stands for them.
Schedule
4:30 pm: doors open
4:40 pm: talk one, service academy topic
5:00 pm: talk two, ROTC scholarships topic
5:20 pm: open Q&A
5:50 pm: conversation until 6:00 pm
Tickets
$25. Seating is limited to 30. Each attending parent and student needs a ticket in their own name. Every family attending receives a free copy of a Kirkland-Dach book of their choice-- (West Point, USNA, USAFA, USMMA, USCGA, Army ROTC, Navy ROTC, Air Force ROTC or DODMERB book)-- a $25 value.
Private dinner
After the meetup, LTC Kirkland hosts a curated dinner for three families at a nearby restaurant. Seats are by application and are confirmed by LTC Kirkland personally. Payment of $100 per person is requested only after a family is approved. To apply, email [email protected] with your student's name and graduation year.
