Grandmaster Vincent Cabales carries the torch of his father, preserving and advancing one of the most influential Filipino martial arts systems in history. The Serrada System
Serrada, meaning “to close,” is a devastating close-quarter combat method specializing in controlling distance and overwhelming opponents at close range. The system is known for:

The Legacy: GM Angel Cabales – Father of Escrima in America
Angel Cabales (1917–1991) is widely recognized as the Father of Escrima in America. Born in the Philippines, he trained under Grandmaster Felicisimo Dizon. In 1966, he opened the first public Filipino martial arts school in the United States in Stockton, California—at a time when such arts were rarely taught outside Filipino communities.
By teaching students of all backgrounds, he helped bring Escrima, Arnis, and Kali into the American mainstream and forever changed the martial arts landscape.
Among the prominent martial artists who trained under Cabales was Dan Inosanto, whose global teaching and promotion of Filipino martial arts helped amplify Serrada Escrima worldwide.
Through the dedication of Angel Cabales and the continued leadership of Vincent Cabales, the Serrada system remains a living, evolving art—rooted in tradition and proven in practice.
