SERGEANT BUZFUZ 9.45 PMSergeant Buzfuz fuse the energy and DIY ethos of punk with catchy hooks and unexpected twists. Occasional odd chord changes catch the ear but feel organic. Subtle rhythmic shifts keep you off-balance but always hooked. At their heart is a restlessness—songs that charge forward with urgency, but never at the expense of melody.
The lyrics, blending kitchen sink romanticism with social commentary, are full of wry humour, class awareness, and an eye for the peculiar details of everyday people.
Songwriter Joe Murphy founded the Blang label (Jeffrey Lewis, Thomas Truax, Brix & The Extricated) in 2005. The band are based in London and Sheffield and have played three 6 Music sessions (Tom Robinson, Marc Riley)
"That is what, I do believe, you call a pop tune" MARC RILEY, BBC 6 MUSIC
" a contemporary version of British beat - wry storytelling...sharp tongued in the most amiable way." SHINDIG
END OF LIFE CARE PLAN 8.30 PM
“The worst, most insensitive noise nuisance dad garage I’ve heard in a long time. Cathartic, possibly even lifesaving, at the edge of despair.” (audience feedback)
THE RED-HEADED LEAGUE 7.45 PM
The Red-headed League are four friends that kept their sixth-form band alive. For 35 years. Expect songs about trickle-down economics and The Jackson Five.
"...the band that never get better."
"...Is this the way to the toilet?"
