The Buddha advised to set aside the day for doing religious observances on every lunar quarter (waxing quarter moon, full moon, waning quarter and new moon), roughly 4 per month. Most auspicious is the full moon. So we gather to observe the full moon on a weekend date close to it, keeping in mind the ancient theme of each moon and applying our thoughts towards spiritual growth. Wearing loose-fitting white clothing is encouraged for these special celebrations.
Poya is the name of the full moon, which we will observe together on September 15th.
All friendly people are welcome!
Join us that morning to honor the Buddha by observing the September full moon with traditional activities: *meditate, listen to a Dhamma talk, take Refuge & 5 Precepts, chant recollection of the Buddha, and enjoy a potluck brunch together.
