A trio of "stand alone" workshops over three months for your learning progression. All three workshops are designed for ALL LEVELS and brought to you by Wooden Roots to promote top, authentic traditional West African drumming experiences with world class artists.
Sept 6th - Yahael Camara-Onono
Oct 4th - Aboubacar Konate
Nov 1st - Mohamed Gueye
All workshops are from 11am - 4pm. Enjoy taking breaks and your lunch break with the artists where you can really get to know them and ask questions.
Don't have a djembe? Rent one from us.
Transport issues? Catch the train to our local station MELTON and we'll come and collect you and drop you back there after the workshop.

About the artists:
YAHAEL CAMARA-ONONO is a London-born djembé player and mastermind behind Balimaya Project (look them up), a music ensemble conjoining jazz and Mande music. Yahael’s teaching style is fun, flamboyant and energetic. We are lucky to have ‘Yahs’ teaching for his first time in Suffolk!
ABOUBACAR KONATE originally from Burkina Faso and now an esteemed band member of Balimaya Project where he masterfully plays different types of West African percussion as well as performing & singing in his own band called ANGATA! (meaning Lets Go!). ‘Bouba’ is a talented, patient and captivating teacher who is ready to take you on an exciting & authentic journey.
MOHAMED GUEYE is a West African percussionist based in London. He is part of the new generation of artists coming out of Senegal today. Mohamed brings a fresh energy and high level of technical expertise together with a great respect for the culture and traditions of his ancestors. Mohamed is a dynamic and charismatic teacher who will have you smiling and laughing the entire time during this workshop.
