When Love Sang to Me, Sept le Charme's 2nd album, is what Halloween rock fans imagine Lurch himself conjuring up: bewitching, poetic songwriting in a pipe organ milieu. Vocal and guitar reverb impart that Goth edge. Still at times spoken-word and avant like on its first album, Sept le Charme has traded heavy special effects for more melodic offerings. The guitar now conveys the psychedelic element. The instrumentation of JP Parrack is always at the guitar's outer limits, be it a ghost hovering above or a submarine lurking below. As suggested by the new second album's amorous front cover, the romantic end of Goth, complete with sitar replaces the doomy settings of the first album.
