On Sept. 29, we'll be having Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer in the church's chapel. That date in the ACNA calendar is called Michaelmas - or the Feast Day for Holy Michael and All Angels, which also marks the start of autumn and the harvest season. According to the online Daily Office, "The Archangel Michael and the heavenly host of angels are, in Christian tradition, celebrated for their role as spiritual warriors against evil, protectors of God's people, and servants who carry out God's will - reminding believers of God's constant care and the cosmic battle between good and evil."You can read more about Michaelmas at the Anglican Compass.

Be sure to check out the legend of why Satan doesn't like blackberries! On the more serious side, the article tells us that it's a "day of considering the reality of spiritual warfare in a world driven largely by rationalism."
Morning Prayer will be 7:15 a.m. and Evening Prayer will be 5:15 p.m. Following Morning Prayer, Fr. Cliff will bless non-perishable food donations made by Resurrection's parishioners for our September Food Drive to benefit the Urban Ministries pantry. Urban Ministries provides daily food bags for the city's homeless population and also food boxes for families in need. In olden days, villagers would bring the fruits of their harvest to the church and place them at the altar for distribution to the poor. We'll be honoring that tradition on Michaelmas.
