Sensuality & Somatics: A Series for Women

My intention for this series is for it to be a safe space to slow it all the way down. I’m curious how to find ways to bring women back home to their bodies with more kindness, more authenticity, and less performance.

There can be so many demands on the modern woman. From unequal pressure of emotional labor, unrealistic and exhausting beauty standards that shift at the drop of a dime, and the chronic background noise of living in a patriarchal society. We all need a collective exhale and a space to nourish our bodies and spirits. This is where the Sensuality & Somatics Series comes in.

This is going to be part psycho-education (I’m a big nervous system nerd!), part somatic practices to guide in cultivating more embodied safety, and part re-imagining what pleasure is for the modern woman! Every body, every age, and every stage of life is welcome here. Please come as you are, and be open to the magic that you naturally have within!

Notes and Things to Keep in Mind:

-Feel free to bring a journal for any notes/any prompts that you feel like writing down

-Be in comfy clothes, this is a starting point, you don't have to dress in any specific "sexy way", I would dress however you feel the most natural and relaxed (feel free to wear your favorite lipsticks or jewelry adornments if you so please!)

-Every invitation is purely an invitation, there is no pressure, no pushing towards having to do the practice because you are in class, etc. This is a space to begin a genuine dialogue with your body, not another way to shame yourself for where you are at in this current moment.

-My working definition of pleasure is inspired by the incredible Pastor Lyvonne Briggs from her book Sensual Faith. The definition of pleasure that I use is "being mindfully aware of the sensations of your body." I am interested in looking at pleasure as a way to nourish the sensorial temple that is your earthly body, so that you get to experience and feel radiantly wonderful in your own skin while you are here!

-There will be no nudity or sexual practices in this space; this is a space where you have the freedom to move your body in a sensual way and let your expression of sassy goodness pour through, but is more so a place to begin the process of envisioning what pleasure really is, and how pleasure can be a conduit of profound healing and remembrance for yourself as a woman.
