About this Event

The Sound at Cypress Waters announced a new Sensory Sensitive Fourth of July Celebration family experience to be held on Sunday, July 3rd at the Rogers-O’Brien Amphitheater. This new type of Independence Day celebration provides a fun and safe alternative to people and pets who deal with noise sensitivity.

Traditional fireworks will be replaced with a colorful patriotic laser light show at dark to celebrate our nation’s independence. The Sensory Sensitive Celebration will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm and will include a concert by Windy City, a Chicago tribute band, animal education from Creature Teacher, plenty of space for picnics on the lawn, face painting, a balloon artist, and more.

For this celebration we have taken detailed consideration to make this event sensory-friendly and accessible to those who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, noise aversions, sensory processing issues and even our four-legged family members who want to participate with us.

Some of the ways we are working to make this a great experience include:

1. Replacing fireworks with a very patriotic laser light show to celebrate our Independence

2. Training on best practices being provided to the restaurant staff by The Autism Society of Texas

3. Creating calming zones for event participants to use for a break from the activities if needed

4. Distributing sensory friendly items to show your patriotic spirit and have fun!
