Sensory Friendly Evening

The Intrepid Museum offers Sensory Friendly Evenings for teens (14+) and adults with autism. Explore the Intrepid Museum after hours during a fun sensory-friendly evening with friends and family. All registrants receive a social narrative before the program.

Hangar Deck

Explore the hangar deck where airplanes were stored, repaired and refueled while Intrepid was in service. Take your time after hours to explore exhibits, meet some of Intrepid’s former crew members, and learn what it was like to live on board. Explore the Museum’s newest exhibit about the ship’s Photo Lab and try out our optional photography challenges!


All visitors must follow the Museum's health and safety guidelines. Following the City of New York’s Emergency Executive Order No. 225, all visitors12 years of age and older must provide proof of at least one vaccination shot against COVID-19, as well as identification, before entering the Museum. Please bring proof and ID with you to the program. Please or review the FAQ below for a list acceptable forms of proof of vaccination and ID.

FAQs

What will be accepted as proof of at least one dose of vaccination and of identification?

The following will be accepted as proof of the receipt of vaccination:

  • A CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card from the jurisdiction, state or country where the vaccine was administered that reflects the person’s name, vaccine brand and date administered (or a digital or physical photo of the card);
  • A New York City COVID Safe Pass (available to download on Apple and Android devices);
  • A New York State Excelsior Pass

Identification means an official document bearing the name of the individual and a photo or date of birth. Examples of acceptable identification include, but are not limited to:

  • Driver’s license
  • Non-driver government ID card
  • IDNYC
  • Passport
  • School ID card

Are facemasks required?

All visitors age 2 and up will be required to wear masks in indoor spaces within the Museum complex. Vaccinated visitors will be permitted to remove their masks in outdoor spaces such as the pier and flight deck.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
