Senior Stargazing at Alum Rock Park

Join Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, City of San José Park Rangers and San Jose Astronomical Association for a relaxing evening beneath the stars at Alum Rock Park, created especially for older adults! Through telescopes and sky gazing, we hope to create an opportunity for seniors to connect with peers, make new friends and enjoy a memorable night together.

Telescopes will be provided along with docent astronomers to show you the amazing features in the night sky. During the event, you are welcome to move freely from telescope to telescope, each one looking at a different feature in the sky. Please do not bring your own telescope (binoculars are welcomed, but please no tripods). We advise guests to arrive by 8 p.m., to minimize headlights and create the best viewing experience. Please arrive by 8 p.m.

This program is intended for senior participants. If you need to attend with a caregiver, support person or companion, please reach out to us before registering - we are happy to discuss accommodations.

Cloudy and inclement weather may cancel the event. If you are no longer able to attend, we kindly request you cancel your ticket to open space for others to attend.
