There is more to exercise than a daily walk — and it matters for a dog’s mental health as much as physical health.
When a senior dog starts slowing down, a shorter daily walk may seem like the safest answer—but walking alone cannot maintain everything an aging body and mind need.
Senior Dogs & Exercise: More Than a Walk in the Park is for pet parents who want to help their dogs remain mobile, engaged, and confident through their later years.
Led by Kate Titus, A Loyal Companion, and Dr. Andrea Hilden, DVM, Caring Ways Veterinary Clinic, this program explores how purposeful movement supports the whole dog. Together, they will explain how muscles, joints, nerves, and the brain work as a connected system, and why changes in any one area can affect everyday activities such as standing, sitting, eating, eliminating, navigating varied surfaces, and getting into a car or onto a bed.
Participants will discover the four essential elements of senior-dog exercise—balance, strength, flexibility, and stamina—and learn why each matters beyond cardiovascular fitness.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what purposeful exercise looks like and the importance of pairing appropriate exercise with veterinary care to help senior dogs preserve function, independence, and joy.
