SEND Rafted Canoeing at Durham Rowing Club
Advertisement
This will be an easy-going session.
The idea of the session is to have a go and become more comfortable each time.
You will be guided along the beautiful River Wear, seeing the fantastic sights of Durham City along the way, and learning to paddle your craft as we venture further from the centre.
For this activity, we will be in rafted canoes. These are our most stable and roomy option for boats. They allow us to enjoy the river and keep everyone together easily. They also tend to offer us the driest ride whilst we are on the water.
What to wear.
In warm weather: Basic sportswear, e.g., shorts and a t-shirt. It's sensible to bring a fleece top just in case it gets colder than expected. On hot days, don't forget your sunscreen and a hat.
If it's cold/rainy, we have wetsuits you can wear; you will need to bring a swimsuit to wear underneath. We also have waterproofs that can be worn over jogging bottoms and a fleece top (jeans and hoodies are unsuitable, as they hold a lot of water).
You must wear footwear. Old trainers, sandals, or beach shoes. They must stay on in the water, so flip-flops and Crocs are unsuitable.
A towel and a change of clothes are required for everyone.
Suitable for the whole family, ages 6 years plus
