About this Event
There have been a number of major developments in the legal protections afforded to journalists and their sources in Ireland over the past six years.
Significant legislative change has also been proposed by the Government in the South.
This seminar will provide expert insights into these legal developments from lawyers and civic society organisations working at the coalface of journalistic rights and freedoms in Ireland.
Journalists from across the island of Ireland are welcome.
Speakers include Barrister Ronan Lupton SC, Solicitor Olivia O'Kane a Partner at Lewis Silkin, Olga Cronin from ICCL, and Dr Cian Ó Concubhair from Maynooth University.
The seminar will cover legal issues around journalistic privilege and surveillance of journalists.
This seminar is funded by Dr Cian Ó Concubhair's Research Ireland New Foundations Grant. It is organised in collaboration with the Irish Council of Civil Liberties.
There is some limited funding available to cover travel expenses for attendees coming outside the greater Dublin area. Please email [email protected] for further information after you have confirmed your ticket.
