Over the past decade, ground-based wide-field time-domain surveys have advanced rapidly, becoming a major driving force behind significant astronomical discoveries. This report will briefly review the progress of ground-based optical time-domain surveys both domestically and internationally, with a focus on the observational progress made by the Tsinghua University-Ma Huateng Telescope for Survey (TMTS) over the past five years. TMTS has discovered a large number of short-period variable sources, including some ultra-short-period peculiar pulsating variable stars, compact binary systems, and stellar flare phenomena. These discoveries provide crucial data for further refining theories of stellar evolution and constraining Galactic reddening and structure as well.
