In the ever-changing internet-driven landscape of academia, getting your name and your research "out there" is a challenge that most graduate students, regardless of your discipline, will have to face. Self-promotion, while sometimes daunting, is an undeniably important aspect of having others discover, recognize, and value your work. After all, in our current social media-driven world, printed journals are no longer the only way to share and discover new research. In this workshop, we'll discuss how to create and cultivate a professional Twitter, how to make a personal website, and how to make sure your research gets "out there."
About the Presenter:
Kerri Rodriguez, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Human-Animal Bond in Colorado (HABIC), holds a Ph.D. in human-animal interaction from Purdue University, where she conducted research with the Center for the Human-Animal Bond. Dr. Rodriguez brings more than eight years of human-canine interaction research experience with a mixed-method research background in understanding the roles of service dogs, companion dogs, and therapy dogs for improving human psychosocial health and wellbeing. Dr. Rodriguez’s research specializations include human-animal interaction; anthrozoology; therapy dogs; service dogs; companion animals; psychosocial wellbeing; psychosocial stress; physiological stress; mental health; and community-engaged research.
