About this Event
This exhibit celebrates the spirit of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Yeah, yeah Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the enslaved officially, but we played a LARGE role in freeing ourselves, WE'RE CELEBRATING THAT, hence the show title, “Self-Liberated”.
The show will feature some of the best Black artists that embody the term. Artists that do things their way, on their own terms, trailblazers, leaders.
Attent the artist talk to get to know the artists, hear their meaning to their art and learn about their process.
