Rev. Harrison Goodman, Executive Director of Mission and Theology, at Higher Things, a Recognized Service Organization of the LCMS, will be at Zion on Sunday, September 21 to speak to our youth on this prevalent topic. His self-esteem presentation, which was one of the breakout sessions at the LCMS Youth Gathering, will take place in the Family Life Center from 2:00 to 3:30 PM that afternoon. All members and friends of Zion are also welcome to attend this presentation. A description of Pastor Goodman's presentation on self-esteem says that "self-esteem is demonic. Really. Too little is too bad, but so is too much. When what's expected of us crashes into what we do, the mess behind rarely matches up with the person we wish we were. How can we look at what the Bible says about sin without feeling, lost, worthless, and without a place? Guilt and shame turn the idea of someone loving us into an exercise in schizophrenia or a lifetime spent in fear of finding out the truth. But your worth is not in what you can do, but in what has been paid for you."
