About this Event
This artist-centered workshop with Tonatierra centers the rights of Indigenous Peoples as affirmed in UNDRIP, grounding self-determination in lived practice, cultural responsibility, and creative expression. Participants will learn about Tonatierra’s origin story—born from movement-building for land, water, cultural integrity, and environmental justice—and how their work advances decolonization strategies rooted in community identity and collective strength.
Through storytelling, dialogue, and a guided Talking Circle, artists will reflect on their roles as culture keepers and public storytellers. The session invites participants to explore how creative expression becomes a vehicle for sovereignty, accurate self-representation, and the protection of Indigenous rights at local and global levels.
