About this Event

Self-care is foundational to our emotional, mental, and physical health. It is something we all require, yet don’t always make time for. The fact is, that we know our health and well-being, as well as our functional capacities, are diminished when we lack adequate support for self. We are not as good at those tasks we hope to be good at w/out attending to our most basic needs, so it becomes a matter of ethics. When we choose to lack self-care, we choose to be less functional for those who need us. Caseloads and schedules that don’t allow for adequate self-care compromise ethical principles, cause harm to mission and clinician alike. Leaders must allow for, and lead for regular self-care. This really is key to wellness. We shouldn’t be surprised when outcomes suffer, if these basic needs have not been addressed. In this workshop we will review the injuries and challenges of traumatic stress, as well as real physical and emotional needs for maintaining wellness. We are supposed to feel bad, when we don’t address these most basic of needs!
