Love Hate Classic Sundays first launched in 2007 at the Love Hate Lounge, located at 423 Washington Avenue. The venue was originally opened in 2006 by stars of the hit TLC series Miami Ink, Ami James and Chris Nuñez, who sought to create a "neighborhood clubhouse" that combined classic tattoo culture with a laid-back, edgy atmosphere.

In 2012, the venue entered a new era when co-founder DJ Self Born (Gregg Davis) took over ownership. Under his leadership alongside Mark G and DJ Johnny Walker Red, "Classic Sundays" became a hip hop cultural cornerstone, famously dedicated to "Old-School Hip-Hop, Classic R&B, + 80s & 90s Reggae. The party was so influential that patrons frequently planned their travel to Miami specifically to attend a Sunday night session.

For over half a decade, Love Hate Lounge was the premier weekly destination on South Beach. While it maintained an "unpretentious" dive-bar charm with no red velvet ropes, it remained a magnet for global icons. Notable celebrities who graced the weekly party included entertainment celebrities like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Gabrielle Union, Will Smith, Duane Martin, Cece Peniston, Jamie Foxx, Major Lazer's Walshy Fire, Lil Wayne and many others.
