We are really excited to bring you a special workshop of Sega Dance with the amazing teacher Marie Reid!

Get ready to learn a beautiful and rich dance style: Mauritius Sega Dance. Sega is the national dance of Mauritius, the sega dance is a traditional dance danced to the rhythm of instruments such as the ravanne and the triangle, accompanied by songs in Creole. This dance tells the story and culture of Mauritius, with African and Indian roots, and is a true celebration of life. You can experience the sega dance by participating in this workshop in which we'll discover the history and the meaning of this beautiful dance style and we will learn the basic steps and techniques of this dance. We will focus on the rhythmic hip movement which is a fundamental part of Sega. Learning how to move your hips in circular motion with grace & beauty. We'll be dancing together and practice the basic steps in small sequences on the traditional songs.

Workshop open to all! No dance experience required.
