About this Event

🎭 Filtered Lives: Unseen Realities

What is the true cost of being seen online?

Filtered Lives: Unseen Realities is a PCREF performance and workshop, created and promoted by theBMC100, exploring the impact of social media on young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Delivered by theBMC100, this session brings together young voices and lived experience in an honest, intergenerational space, where the realities behind the screen are brought to life.

What to Expect

Through a series of engaging and thought-provoking scenarios, this experience will explore:

📱 The pressure of online identity and “perfect” lives.
💬 Comparison culture and validation through likes and comments.
🧠 The silent impact on mental health and self-esteem.
👥 The role of family, community, and support systems.

Blending scripted moments with live interaction, the audience won’t just watch. They’ll be invited to reflect, respond, and help shape solutions.

🆘 Why This Matters

Social media is part of everyday life, but for many young people, it can also be a source of pressure, anxiety, and isolation.

As a PCREF initiative led by theBMC100, this session creates a safe and open space to:

  • Start honest conversations
  • Build understanding across generations
  • Explore practical ways to support young people
