Seen and Heard: Children and Human Rights in a Changing World
About this Event
This workshop’s purpose is to share stories about human rights in Scotland. We are especially interested in making sure that ethnically diverse young people can share their experiences and opinions. As part of our AWARE programme, young people will host some of these conversations in creative ways, including audio recording, visual art-making, and poetry writing. This approach is in line with MCFB’s participation in the Leith Town of Culture 2028 bid, focusing on wider human rights as well as the right to participate in cultural life. Within these themes, young people have already expressed the desire to discuss topics such as Climate Change, LBTQ+ issues, Feminism, and Disability, all which fit with the theme of Freedom, Dignity, and Justice.
Feel free to drop in at any point of the day instead of staying throughout!
Discussion questions will include:
When do you feel that one of your rights was upheld?
When do you feel that one of your rights was violated or not upheld?
What is your vision for the future of human rights in Scotland?
